Poppy Copeland, LPC, is another member of the SalusWorld team currently helping coordinate a trauma assistance program in Northern Thailand for Burmese refugees. Poppy’s long history with humanitarian work began in Thailand where for four years she coordinated the School Assistance Program for the Mitrapab Foundation, which set up educational programs in rural areas bordering Burma, Laos, Cambodia and Malaysia. Later, she worked as a psychotherapist/counselor for the Richmond Area Multicultural Services (RAMS in San Francisco), which assists refugees coming into the United States from these same countries. Poppy has worked for thirty years as an Intercultural Trainer for Tucker International specializing in Southeast Asia and Asia. In addition she has consulted for the Colorado Civil Rights Commission, the Education Commission of the States, the University of Colorado and the City of Boulder. Over the years, she has served on the boards of directors for a number of non-profit organizations such as the Rocky Mountain Survivors Center, Burma Lifeline, Friendship City Nicaragua and the Boulder Peace Consortium. As Director of International Women’s Week at the University of Colorado, she was chosen as a delegate to the Women’s Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C.
